fresh. There is something wonderfully relaxed about these settings — perfect for a quiet moment at the organ, a thoughtful prelude, or simply playing because the music speaks to you.
LIGHT OF THE WORLD — TIMELESS GOSPEL SONGS
There are melodies that seem to carry a little piece of our musical history with them. Light of the World, arranged by Mark Hayes, brings the beloved gospel songs of Philip P. Bliss beautifully into the world of piano playing. The arrangements have warmth, movement and character, while still allowing the simplicity of these treasured songs to shine through.
A Moment with Gabriel’s Oboe
Some melodies don’t need many words. Gabriel’s Oboe is one of those pieces — gentle, expressive and quietly moving. I first came across this beautiful music through playing it in an orchestra, and later discovered a solo
organ transcription by Patrick Denninger. Hearing the melody through the colours of the organ gives it a different kind of space, inviting us to pause, listen and simply enjoy the moment.
